Options for Whitening Your Teeth

Are you interested in a brighter and whiter smile? If so, please read about your options.
- Whitening toothpastes say that they can make your teeth five to seven shades lighter. We have not found this to be true. Actually, most whitening toothpastes work by wearing away good, stained enamel to unstained enamel. Once enamel is gone, it’s gone. Then your teeth can get very sensitive to hot and cold.
- Whiteners, such as Crest White strips, can whiten your teeth, with certain limitations. Your teeth must be even or else the strips cannot be adapted properly over your teeth. This leads to uneven whitening results.
- In –office whitening takes about one hour of your time. You have to make sure that you do not have cavities or gum disease or else whitening can make both problems worse. Even though the “mall-type” whitening systems say they use the same product as a dentist, theirs is a different concentration. We will try to predict how much lighter and brighter your teeth will be but there is no guarantee!
- Porcelain veneers are able to get your teeth as white and bright as you want them. Veneers can also correct shapes, spaces and gaps in your smile.
