Composite or tooth colored fillings are better for your teeth in several ways. First, they help hold teeth together and minimize the chance of the tooth breaking. Next, cavities can be seen; along the edge of the filling if Dr. Hart sees a brown line then she knows that there is a cavity in that area that needs to be taken care of. If she finds it when the line is small then she only has to repair the filling and not have to remove all of the filling like she would if it was a silver (amalgam) filling.

 

 

Of course, when you're smiling the composite fillings don't show unlike silver fillings.
